July 4th at the Cabin

We took our annual family trip to the cabin over July 4th and continued the tradition of a wacky, fun-filled week! There were bubbles...
...and riding in the car with Grandma...
...and bedtime stories...
... and fun sleeping positions with three cousins in a bed!
The week went by very quickly. Grandma Maggie, Aunt Pat, all 3 girls and I were the first ones up and almost melted to death in the 100-degree temp that first day. Everyone else arrived within the next couple of days and luckily, it cooled off for most of the rest of the week!

On the 4th, we dressed up all patriotic (I think it was also the very first time my girls had braids in their hair - thanks Auntie Jill!) and even got our nails painted.
Then we headed to the Tagalong for their fireworks show! We got there a bit early so we spent a good chunk of time running around the golf course, getting nice and tired.

The fireworks were pretty awesome! Even with the not-so-awesome plethora of mosquitoes that night, we had a very fun time. In fact, we got quite silly. Warning: goofy family photos coming up!
Okay, that last one is more cute than goofy - and taken by one of the girls I think!

We also continued our tradition of renting a pontoon boat for a spin around Red Cedar Lake. It is always so nice and relaxing just tooling around on the water!
The girls loved helping Papa drive the boat and putting their feet in the water.
Auntie Pat and Asterix on the boat, hoping Papa Mike doesn't get them soaked!

We also learned some dance moves from Papa Mike and some card games from Grandma Maggie.
On our last night, we had our own little fireworks show, presented by Daddy and Uncle Jason. Claire (left), Abby (middle) and Lily (right) loved getting dressed up in fairy and princess outfits to enjoy the show!
We had a great time and are already excited to go back for July 4, 2012!
